Mr Bones & The Beatcleavers

Mr Bones formed in 2002, by three members of Rhythm Method.

Stuart Powell, Mike Humphreys and drummer Bob Ludlow branched out to form a band with a harder edge than Rhythm Method had previously exhibited.

They needed a singer !!

Enter Jim Bailey, formerly of the Mushroom Men.

Jim had played guitar and delivered backing vocals in the Mushroom Men, and A Band Called Eric, and is also an established solo performer.

Jim shared our vision of a more edgy and aggressive delivery of a broad genre of rock and blues, and took up the challenge of lead vocals as well as guitar duties.

However, as things started to take shape, drummer Bob re-married and moved to the Wirral making his continued inclusion in the band difficult. For a short time, Eddy Taylor deputised, but was unable to join the band on a permanent basis due to prior commitments – thanks Ed! Enter Simon, who drummed with us for a while before exiting to enter the club scene.

Fast forward to late 2004, and Pete McDonald joined us on drums.

Pete left us in mid 2005 due to other commitments. He is now drumming with SomeBlokes an excellent blues band.

Michael Peak then joined us and brings to the band diverse influences ranging from punk, indie, and big band swing !!

Our set is mainly known covers from Lou Reed to Rory Gallagher, Hendrix to Weller, Undertones to Hawkwind, Santana to Sex Pistols, anything with punch from classic Rock ‘n Roll to Radiohead with one or two originals thrown in – and more on the way! The common thread being the delivery which is a “laid back passive aggressive manic mayhem” approach, if you can imagine that (4kin-el !!!)

We are currently working on various different sets, to reflect even more diverse musical genres, i.e. 80's grooves, British R&B.
